Premier League 2018-19: Kane suffers injury scare in Manchester United defeat

Harry Kane has provided Tottenham with an injury scare following their 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United as he limped off at the final whistle.

The England forward has scored 14 goals in 22 league games this season, and could have scored at least twice were it not for the heroics of David de Gea, and should he be out for a sustained period, that would be a major concern for Spurs.

Kane appeared to tweak something when he stretched to reach a through-ball from substitute Fernando Llorente as Spurs pressed for an equalizer which ultimately never arrived. As much as the defeat was bad news for Spurs, losing their star man could be even more damaging.

With a heavy schedule to come in the next few weeks - and with Moussa Sissoko having gone off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury in the first half - Spurs' squad is already looking stretched.

Spurs travel to Fulham next weekend before back-to-back cup games, firstly against Chelsea in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, and then against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Tottenham are now nine points off top spot with 16 matches to go in the Premier League, and are only one point ahead of Chelsea in the fourth spot. Spurs will find out more about the extent of Kane's injury in the coming days, but fans will hope that it proves less serious than it first appeared.

The striker took a while to leave the field at the end of the game and was attended to immediately after the final whistle by medical staff. As he left the Wembley turf, Kane could be seen shaking his head and was struggling to walk.

The news is, even more, worrying with Heung-Min Son heading off to represent South Korea at the Asian Games.
