Premier League 2019/20: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Bournemouth preview, predicted XI, team news and more

Can Tottenham pick up a third straight win under new boss Jose Mourinho?
Can Tottenham pick up a third straight win under new boss Jose Mourinho?

Tottenham Hotspur play host to Bournemouth this Saturday in the Premier League, and new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho will be looking for his first league victory at home after his side defeated Olympiacos on Tuesday. The Portuguese boss should be hopeful of a third win in a row with his new side; Eddie Howe’s Cherries have been on somewhat of a slide recently, winning just one of their last 7 Premier League fixtures, and you have to go back to September 20th to find the last time they won away.

Despite Bournemouth’s struggles as of late they only sit one point behind Tottenham in the league table – meaning a win for Howe’s team would be a huge one, and would be potentially disastrous for Mourinho.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Bournemouth Head-to-Head

Bournemouth have only faced Tottenham on 9 occasions in their history, and it’s unsurprising that all but one of their matches against each other have taken place in recent seasons. The Cherries have just one win over Spurs – but it came in their most recent meeting, in May of this year, when a Nathan Ake goal gave Bournemouth a 1-0 victory.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Bournemouth Team News

Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Erik Lamela remain unavailable to Tottenham with long-term injuries, while Jose Mourinho will also have to do without Ben Davies, who severely injured his ankle in last week’s win over West Ham. In a bonus for Spurs, Jan Vertonghen is now back in full training following his hamstring issue.

Bournemouth still have three players – winger Junior Stanislas, forward David Brooks and full-back Charlie Daniels – in the treatment room with long-term injuries. None of the three currently have a concrete return date. Striker Josh King picked up a hamstring injury on international duty two weeks ago, and while it was said to be a mild one, he’s still doubtful for this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Bournemouth Prediction

Tottenham looked shaky in the early part of their match with Olympiacos, which could give Bournemouth hope, but the truth is that they’re also in a sticky patch of form and will likely be missing one of their major goal threats in Josh King. The positive effects from Jose Mourinho’s appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are still being felt and this should be a third successive win for his side – with Harry Kane and Dele Alli both looking to be amongst the goals again.

Verdict: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Bournemouth
