Premier League Player Of The Month: Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez is in fine form and is now rivalling his strike partner Daniel Sturridge for the Premier League top goalscorer award, after playing just four matches. The Uruguayan scored four goals in October from 15 shots and starred for Liverpool as they challenged Arsenal for the top spot in the league.

His Squawka Performance Score of 213, 40 points ahead of his nearest rival – and teammate – Steven Gerrard. Suarez’s attacking score of 200 was better than anyone else, including Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who scored 171.

Suarez’s tally of four goals was matched only by Aguero who has been lethal for Manchester City. Suarez took 15 shots to score those goals, compared to Aguero’s 14. However, Suarez scored a hat-trick to reach his tally of four.

Premier League Top Goalscorers In October

Suarez was incredibly creative in October, making eight key passes and getting one assist for Daniel Sturridge in their 2-2 draw at Newcastle. These figures made him the fourth most creative player throughout the month, making him the most creative forward in the league.

In terms of winning duels, Suarez was much better than the likes of Sturridge and Aguero, winning 16 duels, completing 11 take-ons and winning 100% of his headers.

In his Man of the Match performance against West Brom he fired in eight shots and scored three of them, taking his overall shot accuracy in October to an impressive 73%. 11 shots on target just four off were his final figures from the month, the best at Liverpool. Only Daniel Sturridge came close with 64% of his shots hitting the target.

Luis Suarez Take-Ons v West Brom

Suarez was fantastic in October and has hit the ground running since his 10-match ban came to an end. He and Sturridge have formed a formidable partnership and if Suarez takes his form from October into November, we could quite easily see Liverpool still pushing for top spot in December.

Luis Suarez is Squawka’s Premier League Player of the Month.
