EPL 2016/17: Premier League's top 10 passers revealed
The 25th edition of the Premier League has already witnessed much drama with three teams (Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool) tied at the top after 10 games.
A recent survey released courtesy of EA Sports shows how crucial passing has been this season and revealed the top 10 passers of this campaign.
Chelsea, under their Italian manager Antonio Conte, look much revived in their form and the statistics reflect the team's success on the pitch with three Blues making the cut for the top 10. N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic, and Cesar Azpilicueta, who form an integral part of Chelsea’s backline were all featured in the top 10.
Kante, who arrived in West London in the summer after winning the title last season with Leicester City, has the best statistics amongst his teammates with 654 complete passes in the 900 minutes that he has appeared for Chelsea putting him third on the list with 65.4 passes per game.
Nemanja Matic, who likes taking charge of a game with his distribution all across the pitch enjoyed a new lease of life under Conte which is demonstrated by the fact that he ranks seventh in the table, making 602 passes in 868 minutes (62.4 passes per match).
Full-back Cesar Azpilicueta follows Matic in the top 10 after making 594 passes in 900 minutes - implying that the Spaniard makes 59.4 successful passes per match.
The top spot was, however, clinched by Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson, with impeccable statistics of 830 complete passes in 834 minutes on an average of 84.5 passes in 90 minutes.
His closest contender is Manchester City's Fernandinho (73.3 passes per 90 minutes) while Leicester's Danny Drinkwater (third), Manchester United's Paul Pogba (fifth), Everton's Idrissa Gueye (sixth), David Silva (ninth) and Hull's Jake Livermore (10th) complete the top 10.
