What's the story?

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is of the belief that the Red Devils can go all the way and win the European title after their historic win over Paris Saint-Germain last night.

In case you didn't know...

United registered a phenomenal comeback in the second leg of their round of 16 fixture against PSG at the Parc des Princes.

The Red Devils overturned their 2-0 home deficit, and in doing so, became the first team in the history of Europe's elite competition to qualify for the next round despite losing the first leg of a knockout match at home by two or more goals.

Romelu Lukaku's brace and a VAR-awarded penalty converted by Rashford helped Solskjaer's men overcome the odds to establish a 3-1 win.

The victory also marks the first time United have gone through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in five seasons.

The heart of the matter

After the game, Solskjaer further roused emotion among the United faithful stating that he believes in his side's ability to go all the way in the competition.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, "I have got some fantastic memories, and that's what it gives you. It is special when you are a coach, doing it with your staff and the players. The dressing room was absolutely unbelievable, just to see the whole club together, with owners, ex-players, former managers."
"We can go all the way. Of course we fancy ourselves. We have to wait for the draw. We had loads of injuries and suspensions but that was maybe a good thing here today, as we had a fresh team with lots of energy. We knew we had to defend and be humble enough to work hard. All the teams that are through are quality teams."

Owing to the phenomenal results Solskjaer has so far produced, rumours have been rife of a full-time offer for him. The Norwegian, however, believes that it does not matter whether or not he will be in the position.

"I am planning, with the club, for the future. It does not matter if I am here or not. I am still giving my advice and opinions for next season. I am a supporter as well, and I want the best for Man United."
"I keep doing this job as best as I can every single day and we will see where it takes us. It has been a fantastic time with the players, with the staff I have got. I am just going to enjoy this job as long as I have got it. If it is another two months, three months, then I am going to enjoy it. I am going to smile."

What's next?

United are next scheduled to face Arsenal in a battle for a top-four spot on Sunday. United have enjoyed success at The Emirates recently, and it will be intriguing to see if that continues.
