PSG 3-0 Bordeaux: 5 Talking Points as Messi and Neymar are booed despite home win | Ligue 1 2021-22
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) thrashed Bordeaux 3-0 at the Parc des Princes in Gameweek 28 on Sunday to march on towards the Ligue 1 trophy.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for the hosts in the 24th minute of the game. The Frenchman slotted one in following an incisive pass from Georginio Wijnaldum. Neymar doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute as he tapped one in from close range following some selfless work from Achraf Hakimi.
The Parisians sealed the three points following Leandro Paredes' strike minutes after their second goal. The Argentinian scored a clinical finish to clinch the victory. Lionel Messi also came close to scoring a goal but his attempted shot from the edge of the box deflected off the post.
On that note, here's a look at five talking points from the game:
#5 PSG get back to winning ways
After two successive losses against OGC Nice and Real Madrid, PSG hit the ground running with a win against Bordeaux. Before their win on Sunday, they had lost three out of their four games in all competitions.
The Parisians responded with a grand win as they smashed the visitors with three goals.
They were under a lot of pressure following their UEFA Champions League exit in the round of 16 on Wednesday last week. With manager Mauricio Pochettino's job on the line, it was necessary for them to win their next game to regain their confidence.
The club only have Ligue 1 to play for now as they were eliminated in the Coupe de France in February.
#4 Neymar and Messi receive jeers from the home crowd
Neymar and Messi were booed by a section of the fans at the Parc des Princes for the whole 90 minutes. The duo were subject to massive scrutiny following their midweek loss to Real Madrid. A certain section of PSG fans did not shy away from making their displeasure known.
Reports also surfaced that the club now doubt Neymar's commitment to the job. But despite all the noise surrounding the Brazilian, he shut down his critics with a goal. Neymar scored the second goal of the game after some great work by Hakimi to set him up.
