Paris Saint-Germain transfer rumour: PSG told Coutinho is not for sale

Coutinho has been one of Liverpool's best players since his arrival

French club, PSG have been told to keep their hands off Brazilian superstar, Philippe Coutinho, indicating the Anfield club’s reluctance to sell one of their most prized assets. As per reports in the British newspaper, The Sun, Liverpool have refused to entertain any thought of letting the Brazilian leave.

Coutinho was a reported target for current PSG coach, Unai Emery in the summer, with a reported £22.5m bid being turned down in the summer by the Merseyside club. The rejection though hasn’t dampened the interest of the French Champions, with the club looking to increase their bid.

Having arrived from Inter Milan in the winter of 2013, the Brazilian has become a vital member of the Liverpool side under manager Jurgen Klopp. Coutinho was in action over the international break, providing an assist in the 5-0 thrashing of Bolivia. His role in the win against Venezuela also shouldn’t be discounted against him as he replaced the suspended Neymar.

Long Term Contract on the cards

The Brazilian’s performances have been eye-catching ever since his arrival. His long-range shooting and ability to pick out his team-mates make him one of the most creative players in the current Liverpool squad.

However, the reported interest of clubs such as Barcelona and PSG may lead to the club offering improved terms to the player. Reports in The Mirror, have already charted the Blaugranas interest in the Brazilian and the Merseyside club will loathe seeing a player of such high calibre leave.

Coutinho signed his new contract only eighteen months ago but that will not deter the club from tying down the Brazilian to an improved long-term deal. Coach Juergen Klopp recently pledged his future to the club till the year 2022 and will look to hold on to his key assets as he looks to build a side capable of entertaining and winning trophies.

Coup for Liverpool

The Brazilian has grown in influence ever since his arrival at Anfield. Rodgers, the former Liverpool coach was instrumental in persuading the Little Magician to exchange the San Siro for Anfield.

Speaking to World Soccer Magazine, Coutinho appreciated the faith of the former coach, "I have been lucky to work under some fine managers already in my career and they have each added an element to my game, but I will always have a special gratitude to Brendan. He believed in me and brought me here. He gave me the opportunity to play for such a great club," said the 24-year-old.

Ever since his arrival, Coutinho has dazzled in the Premier League, with his jinking runs and close control.

Liverpool, currently are fourth in the table, lie only two points behind Manchester City and next take on Manchester United on Monday night.
