Pune FC win 2014 FCB Youth Cup- India
The 2014 FC Bayern Youth Cup powered by adidas was held over the weekend February 8/9 at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi with Pune FC Under-16 boys emerging as the champions with a final penalty shootout victory over Bengaluru FC U-16 boys of the Under-16 7-A-Side competition.
Six football club academy sides and two local Delhi schools were invited to take part in the two day competition in which the youngsters could show themselves to the FC Bayern scouts to become a part of the Indian team which would represent the country in the global FC Bayern Youth Cup in Munich later this year ( 2014 FCB Youth Cup – India: 10 boys selected to represent India in Munich!)
FC Bayern legend Paul Breitner, who was in Delhi for the FCB Youth Cup, said, “Every time I come here I see an improvement in the quality of football played here. I am very excited with what I saw today. I am very surprised by the talent in the kids. It was exciting to watch each and every match. I am sure the Indian side will have a good chance in Munich.”
