Question mark over Radamel Falcao's real age

Radamel Falcao, Monaco striker has been surrounded by controversies regarding his age.

First, on Saturday, El Tigre went into a fit of a rage during Monaco’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Augsburg and now a Colombian reporter has raised questions whether Falcao is 27 or 29 years old.

According to the documents produced by the primary school Falcao attended, he was born in 1984 and not in 1986, which means he is 29 years old and not 27, which is the widely accepted age.

This can raise a number of controversies in Falcao’s career, which includes the fact that he would have won the 2005 South American Youth (Under-20) Championship at the age of 21 and also took part in the Under-20 World Cup when overage.

Falcao’s father however has denied the reports and states that it is simply a clerical mistake at the school, and his son is 27 years old.

This also suggests that Monaco could be left with an older player on their hands than originally expected, and have been cheated into paying over the odds for Falcao.
