Aaron Ramsey to join Ronaldo in Turin next season
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reportedly signed a deal with Italian Champions Juventus which will see him move to Turin in July after his contract with Arsenal expires in June, according to reputed British media house The Guardian. It is reported that he has signed a 5-year-contract worth £36 million with the Turin side effective from July this year.
The Welsh midfielder was subjected to interest from many big clubs across Europe including FC Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain. Ramsey joined Arsenal in 2008 from Cardiff City for a fee of around £4.8 million. Ramsey made his competitive debut for Arsenal in the Champions League third qualifying round against FC Twente on 13 August 2008 and his league debut a month later against Blackburn Rovers on 13 September 2008, marking it with an assist to Emmanuel Adebayor for Arsenal's fourth. Since then, he has managed to score 38 goals in 252 appearances for the London club.
After serving 11 years at Arsenal, the 28-year-old has decided to start a new journey with the Italian Champions Juventus where he’ll be playing alongside the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man Cristiano Ronaldo. It's quite a steal for Juventus who won’t be paying any transfer fee for Ramsey, someone who is easily worth £85 million in this inflated market for the quality he brings into any side. Ramsey’s Arsenal contract ends in June this year which enabled Juventus to sign him on a pre-contract agreement. In his 25 appearances for Arsenal this season, the Welsh has managed to score 2 and assist 6 goals.
Masters of pre-contract agreements
Over the years, Juventus have mastered in signing big players on a pre-contract agreement and Aaron Ramsey has become the latest name to be added to that list. They have signed the likes of Emre Can, Dani Alves, Paul Pogba, Sami Khedira without paying any transfer fee for them in the recent past. Ramsey adds to their midfield depth which already has Sami Khedira, Emre Can, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi and Rodrigo Bentancur. He will add to the creativity of the Turin side with his style of play. Ramsey has been considered one of the most stylish players in the Premier League due to his style of play with all his cheeky flicks, soft touches, unbelievable vision and a classy touch. He is an absolute gem of a player who has contributed a lot to Arsene Wenger’s attacking orchestra over the last years.
