Randy Orton's babyface turn is a possiblity, presumed to beat John Cena in Hell in a Cell

Randy Orton was a fan favourite before his heel turn.

An exodus in merchandise sales for WWE Superstar Randy Orton has forced the WWE creative team to rethink the portrayal of the viper with suggestions of a possible babyface turn. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a segment discusses WWE’s future plans for Randy Orton and the possible outcomes from this weekend’s Pay-per-View Hell in a Cell.

According to Wrestle Zone, since his turn heel last year, his merchandise sales and live event gates for his tours have gone down by a big margin. WWE pushing towards a Randy Orton v Seth Rollins feud for the near future further makes the idea more believable. On top of it, Randy Orton had also RKO’d Paul Heyman on last Monday Night RAW, a move that hints that he could win against John Cena in their Hell in a Cell match this weekend.

If he is to win the match, he would go on to face Brock Lesnar who is rumoured to make a comeback not until the Royal Rumble in January. This would give Orton the time-period he will need to turn into a fan favourite again, and be ready to fight Lesnar by 2015.
