RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhüttl could succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal
Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Ralph Hasenhüttl, the manager of Bundesliga leaders, RB Leipzig, to succeed Arsene Wenger, whose contract at the Gunners expires at the end of the season.
The French boss is yet to reveal his future plans and it is unsure if the Gunners are keen on extending Wenger’s contract.
According to The Sun, Red Bull manager, Ralph Hasenhutti tops the list for the Gunners at the moment. The Austrian has made the headlines for taking his newly-promoted side to the top of the Bundesliga, 3 points clear of Bayern Munich.
The club were struggling to keep their place in the German second division when Hasenhutti took charge in 2013, but the Austrian coach turned things around and secured safety, before leading the side to promotion the following season.
Prior to his appointment at RB Leipzig, Hasenhutti had overseen promotions at two other German clubs – Aalen and Ingolstadt.
The 49-year-old is currently enjoying life at Germany’s top flight with his side currently 12 games unbeaten in their debut top-flight campaign.
Reports suggest that the Gunners having been tracking Hasenhutti for over 2 years and the Arsenal board have been impressed with his tactical intelligence and his willingness to promote youth players into the first team.
It would definitely not be easy for Arsenal to land their man as other German clubs are ready to battle it out to acquire the Austrian’s services. According to The Sun, should Wenger leave at the end of the season, Hasenhutti would be offered a role as head coach, while Wenger could be offered the Director of Football role.
Another option for Arsenal is Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt, who has earlier revealed that he would be interested in succeeding Wenger and join his compatriot Jurgen Klopp in England.

“I am contracted with Leverkusen till 2019 but, if it was possible in the future to be a manager of an English football team, it would be very interesting for me. But at the moment, I am very happy where I am,” said Schmidt.
It would be interesting to see whether Wenger is given a new contract, if not, who would succeed the 67-year-old French Boss.
However, Wenger has an important job in hand. The manager has to convince his two star players – Ozil and Sanchez, to pen down a new contract and end all speculations.
