Rumour: Real Madrid offer Manchester United target Toni Kroos £4 million deal
As reported by the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Real Madrid have offered Manchester United target Toni Kroos an annual net salary of €5 million, reports the Daily Mail.
Kroos is considered one of the hottest midfield prospects in Europe and seems almost destined to depart Bayern Munich during the upcoming transfer window.
David Moyes revealed earlier today that he had targeted Kroos whilst Manchester United manager, and the interest seems to remain now that Louis Van Gaal has been put in charge.
Van Gaal reportedly attempted to convince Kroos to join Manchester United with a personal phone call in recent days, but the 24-year-old is keen to join Real Madrid, with Van Gaal rebuffed. Manchester United’s new manager will now turn his attention towards other midfield recruits, an area of their squad which needs significant improvement if they want to improve on last season’s poor displays.
The midfielder’s contract expires next summer, and to that end Bayern have repeatedly tried to renew his deal, making offers of €4 million and €6 million that the German rejected at the beginning of the year.
However, Bayern are said to be keen on Madrid’s Sami Khedira, although are not seeking a swap deal. Kroos may play out the rest of his Bayern contract, which expires in June 2015, well aware that he could leave the club on a free transfer next summer and therefore negotiate a higher wage for himself.
Arsenal have also recently been reported to maintain interest in Khedira.
