Real Madrid news: Cristiano Ronaldo would love Raphael Guerreiro at the Bernabeu

Cristiano Ronaldo won the Euro alongside the talented Raphael Guerreiro

Portuguese captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed he would love to see his Euro 2016 teammate and left back Raphael Guerreiro at Real Madrid. The duo had excellent chemistry down the left flank for Portugal during the historic European triumph in France just a couple of months ago.  And Ronaldo believes the addition of the player would make him happy, going on to add that the player will be a key asset for any squad he’s in.

Speaking to German magazine 11 Freunde, Ronaldo when asked which player from Bayern or Dortmund he would have ar Real, he replied, “Perhaps my teammate in Portugal, Raphael Guerreiro”.

However, Real Madrid has sufficient cover at the left full-back position with Marcelo currently the first choice followed by Portuguese number one Fabio Coentrao, and it would have been hard for young Guerreiro to break into the eleven if he joined the Spanish giants.

Ronaldo’s comment on his teammate left the media picking out fellow Portuguese Renato Sanchez who was also eligible for selection as the superstar Ronaldo choose Guerreiro over the Bayern man. Guerreiro is having a solid start to his Dortmund career in Germany impressing the Signal Iduna faithful with commanding displays when picked over Schmelzer.

Raphael Guerreiro has claimed his move to Dortmund was a natural choice as he wanted regular first team football. Despite rejecting the likes of Barcelona and PSG the confident young defender believes only playing time can improve his abilities and better his chances of winning more trophies in the future with club and country.

The youngster must be pleased with the words from his Portuguese captain having developed a strong bond with the Madrid talisman during Portugal maiden and historic triumph in the summer's European Championship.

The rise of the young Portuguese full-back sees various clubs across the continent vying for the signature of the player in the future as a number of clubs keep a close watch o the developments surrounding the youngster and his spell at Borussia Dortmund. Under contract with the German side till 2020, Guerreiro has his sights set on a long spell with Dortmund in Germany before completing his development and possibly moving abroad again to join Ronaldo at Madrid in the years to come.

As of now, he remains a Dortmund player, but with improving performance in each game for the German giants a possible switch away from Germany looks likely, with no shortage of clubs bidding for the services of the talented young European winner with Portugal Raphael Guerreiro.
