Real Madrid news: Defender Dani Carvajal caught flaunting his middle finger
Real Madrid ace defender Dani Carvajal could find himself in serious trouble for cussing at Barcelona fans during Saturday’s El Classico. With Ramos scoring a late equaliser in the match, the league leader clinched a 1-1 draw. Real, however, took their celebrations a tad bit too far as Carvajal popped out his middle finger and waved on the face of the Barcelona fans.
Dani Carvajal, however, took to social media to apologise to Barcelona fans after his offensive gesture towards them. Carvajal admits that he should not have provoked the home side's fanbase, which he said was done in retaliation for taunts made against him during the late drama in Catalonia.
His twitter handle said, "I'd like to apologise for the gesture to a portion of the fans, responding to insults. It's something that shouldn't be done."
Such an approach of celebration is really unprofessional and could cost Dani and his team severely. But if we see in a broader aspect, it's just a moment of poor judgment. Nobody got hurt, and that's the important thing.
Now, the Spanish Football Federation, though, might see things in a more harsh light, especially since a similar incident occurred a few weeks back. Barcelona forward Neymar was accused of "provoking" Valencia fans who hit him with a bottle as Barcelona celebrated their late winner.
The fan was caught on a Spanish radio where he said,” When the penalty was given, I felt very impotent and upset at what had just occurred. At that moment, I saw a bottle lying on the ground, and on impulse picked it up and threw it at them.”
A Spanish journalist meanwhile posted pictures of the objects on social forum that were apparently thrown at the players which included a bottle, three lighters, a screw and an acorn
With La Liga becoming a celebratory farce, Discipline Commission of the Spanish league has threatened punishment to Dani Carvajal. But until now, Real Madrid and the authority of La Liga action is not yet open related to the offence. However, with six points clear at the summit, Los Blancos next take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage clash.
