Real Madrid Transfer News: Tottenham superstar's agent set to meet Real Madrid to discuss the possibility of a summer move
What's the story?
It has been claimed that Martin Schoots, the agent of Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen, is set to meet Real Madrid to discuss the possibilities of a potential move of his client to the Santiago de Bernabeu, this summer.
In case you didn't know...
After having a substandard 2018-19 season, wherein they finished third in La Liga and were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League and Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid have had an eventful transfer window so far.
The 13-time European Champions have already secured the signings of Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic, and Premier League sensation Eden Hazard. However, it seems like Los Blancos' massive transfer spree is far from over as they've been linked with a host of top-notch midfielders including Manchester United outcast Paul Pogba, Christian Eriksen, and Ajax starlet Donny Van de Beek.
While the Red Devils have quoted a price-tag of €160M for the Frenchman, the other two options can be considered cheaper alternatives.
The heart of the matter
Apart from the incomings, the 33-time La Liga champions are planning to loan or offload some of the unused players at the Bernabeu. Following the departures of Marcos Llorente and Mateo Kovacic, Dani Ceballos is being linked with a move away from the Spanish capital.
Zinedine Zidane needs to bolster the midfield ranks, considering a cover for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who is 33 years old. The Galacticos' transfer spree has already crossed €300M, and buying Pogba would take that up to €450M, increasing the chances of the implementation of the Financial Fair Play regulations on them. Hence, Christian Eriksen and Van de Beek would be a better solutions for them.
The Dane has already hinted at his desires of leaving Tottenham, and with his current contract set to expire next summer, Florentino Perez can negotiate the asking price and Spurs would have to agree in order to avoid the risk of seeing him leave for free next summer.
What's next?
Real Madrid will begin their pre-season training from 8th of July. It remains to be seen who else would join them before the start of the next season.
