Real Madrid Transfer News: Edinson Cavani Open To Madrid Move

Napoli wide forward Edinson Cavani has admitted that it would be tough to refuse a move if Real Madrid were the suitors. Although he admitted to being happy with his current situation in Italy, he remained open to move to Spain if the opportunity presented itself.

Cavani interested in Madrid switch

Real Madrid endured a lukewarm campaign last time round by their own high standards, as they continued playing second fiddle to Barcelona in the League and only managed to salvage the Copa del Ray trophy. Jose Mourinho will obviously be looking to improve on this showing and the Spanish giants have consequently been linked with a bevy of attackers in the market, with Neymar and Cavani being the most widely reported ones.

Cavani recently spoke to Goal.com and said that he was satisfied with his position in Napoli and would happily stay on, unless someone from Los Blancos made a move. He said-

“We have arranged everything to stay at Napoli. I think that my adventure there will continue. However, things could change when Real Madrid come calling. I think that we’d have to reconsider and talk with Napoli about it if something like that happens,”

He remained non-committal on whether a transfer would actually take place however; saying that he would be open to offers from both Real Madrid and any renewed votes of confidence from Napoli’s side. Cavani has just had a stunning season with the Italian heavyweights, his goals propelling Napoli to the dizzying heights of the Champions League, a feeling Napoli hadn’t tasted in recent times.

He sad-

“I am willing to listen to anything they have to offer. However, I’d also be ready to listen to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and obey him.”

Napoli will hope that Cavani is convinced of their ambition and decides to stay on next season, but advances from Real Madrid are hard to turn down for any footballer. This has the early looks of an intriguing transfer saga which can culminate any which way. Stay tuned for more in this regard.
