Report: Real Madrid asked to pay €350M to sign Tottenham star
What's the story?
According to AS, Real Madrid have decided to secure the services of Tottenham's Harry Kane and have already made direct contact with the Premier League club prior to the Christmas break to materialize the deal.
However, Spurs are determined to hold on to their star player and have demanded €350 million for the Englishman in order to stave off his departure.
In case you didn't know...
Cristiano Ronaldo's exit in the summer transfer window of 2018 has blighted Real Madrid's offensive unit. Los Blancos have undergone a torrid first half of the 2018/19 season and look to bolster their attacking options in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Consequently, they have identified a number of quality forwards as their transfer targets and Harry Kane has reportedly topped their wish list of late.
The heart of the matter...
The Spanish outlet claims that Spurs' Daniel Levy is well-known for playing hardball in transfer dealings. In fact, he has already warded off Real Madrid's interest in Eriksen by slapping a €250 million asking price on the Danish ace.
Speaking of Harry Kane, he is being eyed by several European top dogs, though Spurs are hell-bent on not letting him go. Their offer of a new deal worth £200,000-per-week, which makes Kane the highest paid player in the club’s history, is a testament to that fact.
AS suggests that as a result of Harry Kane's eye-watering valuation, the Spanish giants might resort to other realistic targets, including the likes of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and PSG’s Edinson Cavani.
Rumour rating: 6/10
AS is a pretty reliable source for Spanish transfer news and rumours. Moreover, the asking price set by Spurs makes sense, considering how valuable Harry Kane is for them.

What's next?
Real Madrid will most likely make a serious move for Kane in the summer transfer window, depending on their performance this season. If they are willing to match the €350 million fee, it would easily make the 25-year-old the most expensive player of all-time.
