Report: Suarez to stay with Liverpool

In the summer transfer window, Liverpool forward Luis Suarez tried to force a move away from the Anfield club, but the club management refused to agree to his demands and the two bids that came from Arsenal were rejected. It is believed that Arsenal are still interested in the Uruguayan star.

Real Madrid are also interested in signing the nutmeg king. They are looking for a world class replacement for Karim Benzema who is tipped to leave the Spanish club soon. Suarez fits the bill perfectly and it’s rumoured that a January bid is on the cards.

Contradicting these rumours, ESPN quotes a close Liverpool source claiming that Suarez is staying with the reds.

“There could be no new contractual arrangement with Suarez once the season got underway and he was in dispute with the club, trying to push through a move.

“However, that has all changed now and the club have made it clear that Suarez has three years left on his contract – well, just under now – and to be fair to the player he has shown his commitment on the field.

“What happens next largely depends on the club and player sitting down to discuss his future in the summer when he has two years remaining on his contract, and it is traditional at that stage for clubs and players to want to re-negotiate contracts.

“We shall all see how it unfolds in the summer when those talks take place. In the meantime, the manager has stated that Suarez will be treated the same as every other player under contract.”

Few days earlier, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers spoke highly of Luis Suarez and stated the importance of the Uruguayan star to the club.

He said (source: Daily Post),

“With Luis, he demands the best from himself and his team-mates at all times, and we saw that against Crystal Palace, even right at the end when the game was won,” said the Liverpool manager.

“You saw it in the final minute, when he was upset because he was clear in the box and wasn’t picked out.

“You see his work-rate and his demand for a better ball into the box, and that’s what we want.
