Reports: Arsenal set to make £44 million bid for long-term Manchester United target Arturo Vidal
Arsenal are preparing a £44 million bid for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal as manager Arsene Wenger plans to bolster his contingent of attacking options this summer, report the Metro.
The 27-year-old is currently on international duty at the World Cup with Chile, who have emerged as dark horses for the tournament and face Brazil in a highly anticipated round of 16 clash on Saturday.
However, his club future is uncertain, with a host of European clubs interested in tempting him away from the Italian giants.
Vidal’s powerful and energetic displays in the centre of the park were a key part of the Old Lady’s triumph in Serie A last season, but they could prove powerless to prevent his departure.
With the north Londoners set to offer a huge sum for the midfielder, Juventus boss Antonio Conte could be tempted to do business, while the fee would break Arsenal’s record transfer fee that they paid for Mesut Ozil Ozil last summer.
The deal would represent a signal of intent from Arsenal due to Vidal’s stature as one of the most highly coveted players at the World Cup this summer.
Given his strength and powerful, he could provide the steel that was lacking from the Gunners midfield last season, particularly in the biggest games against their rivals.Arturo Vidal
