Reports: AS Roma star Miralem Pjanic 'on the verge' of Juventus move

Agent confirms Juventus’ intention to activate release clause

Miralem Pjanic’s agent has confirmed that his client is close to joining Juventus. The midfielder’s release clause of €38 million at AS Roma has been activated by the Serie A Champions confirmed the agent, Adis Junuzovic. AS Roma director Mauro Baldissoni, has also confirmed that the player has made his intentions to join Juventus clear to the club.

Italian publication, Corriere dello Sport, posted an alleged conversation Pjanic had with his friend in which he mentioned that he was “sold in 15 minutes” by AS Roma. The news added more fuel to the rumours that Juventus were set to sign the Bosnian midfielder.

Speaking to Roma Radio,Baldissoni said “When the limits of professional behaviour are breached, we have to intervene. We read more rubbish on the Pjanic situation. Today we read supposed private conversations he confided in a friend, which the player has denied. I spoke to the lad this morning and he said he never wrote anything of the sort. I told him to defend himself and be careful, but above all, we need to change the way things work in this city.”

Baldossini then read out a formal statement from Pjanic, confirming he intends to join Juventus:

“With this note I inform you that I intend to activate my right to be transferred to another club, as agreed beforehand. I also tell you my intention to send the 20% of my share of the transfer fee directly to the club that will buy my contract, which I specifically inform you is Juventus. I thank you and urge you to make contact to finalise the necessary contractual formalities.”

Pjanic’s agent, Junuzovic also confirmed the move while speaking to N1: “Juventus have activated the €38 million clause and we expect to finalise the transfer very soon.”

Junuzovic also named the other club’s who were interested in signing him. He reported that Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Barcelona were interested in the midfielder but Juventus made the swift move to seal the transfer. “There were a lot of clubs interested in him; PSG, Chelsea, Barcelona. Juventus were the fastest and most concrete.” he said.

The move is set to be completed in the coming days with the medical and contract signing scheduled for next week. Junuzovic went on to say “[The signing of the contract] should happen within the next week, and then there's the official presentation.”
