What's the story?

Real Madrid seems to have found their new goal-machine in winger Gareth Bale since the departure of their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, who parted company with the European champions and moved to Italian club Juventus this summer.

While the Portuguese will beat the Welshman hands down regarding his fan following, recent stats suggest that the later has gone ahead of the former in one aspect -- shot-to-goal ratio.

According to AS, Bale seems to have benefitted from Ronaldo's departure and is scoring more goals from less no of shots lately.

In case you didn't know...

Bale, since arriving from Tottenham in 2013, has played second fiddle to Ronaldo for the majority of his time at Madrid.

But with Ronaldo now gone, he has found himself in the thick of things as far as Madrid's frontline is concerned, and much to everybody's delight, he seems to have taken the new role as a fish takes to water.

The heart of the matter

The forward has scored nine goals in the last nine games for Real Madrid, including a double in the Champions League final and has scored those goals from 23 shots he has taken. That's one goal for every 2.5 shots which also means he has considerably cut down on his previous rate of a goal every 5.4 shots since arriving at the Spanish capital in 2013.

This, as per the report, is much better than the recently departed Ronaldo who took 4.7 shots to score a goal and his average of one goal a game is also at par with Ronaldo's 1.02 goal per game.

"He trains with the happiness of a youth player," said manager Julen Lopetegui before the European Super Cup and continues to praise the winger for his impressive performances afterwards as well.

What's next?

The 29-year-old seems to have left behind past injuries and is looking in prime shape just at the right time for Madrid. One can only imagine what he can achieve if stays fit for most part of the ongoing season.
