Reports: Manchester United in pole position to sign world-class Real Madrid target
What’s the rumour?
Manchester United have been linked to Juventus’ Alex Sandro for a while now and it seems they might be in pole position to sign him in the summer. The Brazilian was wanted by Jose Mourinho last summer and the club are still interested in him.
In case you didn’t know…
Manchester United have been fabulous ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins at Old Trafford. As a result, the Red Devils might be able to finish in the top four and attract top players with Champions League football.

The heart of the matter
According to Tuttosport, Juventus’ pursuit of Marcelo means that should the Old Lady be successful in bringing the Brazilian to Turin, Sandro might have to make way. As a result, Manchester United are now on high alert but they are not alone.
French giants PSG are also monitoring the situation while Real Madrid might also be keen to acquire his services as a Marcelo-sized hole will have to be filled.
Rumour rating: 5/10
Marcelo is the vice-captain of Real Madrid and is a legend at the club. It won’t be easy for Juventus to buy him so easily unless the Brazilian himself forces a move. Given that he absolutely loves Madrid, it is unlikely that he would do that – even if he isn’t playing much, with Sergio Reguilon taking over left-back duties.
What’s next?
Right now, young Sergio Reguilon is preferred at left-back over the Brazilian and it seems like Santiago Solari will persist with the Spaniard in the starting XI, making it very difficult for Marcelo to break in.
However, the season is long and Marcelo will surely get his chances and he needs to ensure that he makes full use of them.
