Reports: Manchester United target Leicester City star
What’s the rumour?
According to Mirror, Leicester City's defender Harry Maguire is a target for Manchester United this summer. Mourinho is almost certain to buy a new centre-back and Maguire is a potential target.
In case you didn't know...
Maguire shot to fame in the 2016-17 season with Hull City. Although the club got relegated, Maguire produced a string of brilliant performances for The Tigers. As a result, Leicester snapped him up last summer for a reported £17 million fee.
Following the transfer, he has taken his game to the next level, and has been a mainstay for Leicester this season, playing 38 games in all competitions and also, scoring twice.
He has also earned a call-up to the England national team and is likely to be a vital part of their exploits in Russia this summer. His current contract runs out only in 2022 and is valued at around £35 million.
The heart of the matter
Despite showing considerable improvement from last year, United will have to settle for second place in the league this season. Mourinho's has failed to field a regular back-line this campaign. New signing Victor Lindelof has struggled to find his feet and Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo have found themselves on the treatment table regularly.
Thus, it is almost certain that Mourinho will buy a quality centre-back this season to add steel to their back-line and help them challenge on all fronts this season.
He has thus turned to Maguire, who has been impressive for Leicester.

Author’s take
Although Leicester may be unwilling to part ways with the player, they may be persuaded by a substantial offer. He will undoubtedly make United's defence more solid and may be a cheaper alternative to some of the other defenders linked with United.
