Reports: AS Monaco target another Chelsea star after signing Cesc Fabregas
What's the story?
After sealing the signature of veteran midfielder Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry's AS Monaco could be in for another Chelsea star in the January transfer window, as Telegraph.co.in reports that the Ligue 1 outfit is targeting Blues' striker Michy Batshuayi.
In case you didn't know...
Michy Batshuayi had a fine 2016-17 season with Chelsea helping the West London outfit to clinch the Premier League title. But later he departed Stamford Bridge for two consecutive loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Valencia.
It was quite frustrating loan spell for Batshuyayi who just scored two goals for the LaLiga side in 23 appearances and recently, Valencia cut short the Belgian's loan spell and the 25-year-old frontman has returned to his parent club.
But immense transfer speculation has already started to mount around him as he is no short of suitors with Everton appearing to seal his services a few days ago recently AS Monaco lead the line.
The heart of the matter
According to Telegraph, AS Monaco initially, want Michy Batshuyaii on a loan till the end of a remaining chunk of the 2018-19 campaign.
AS Monaco are going to through a tough period sitting at 19th position in Ligue 1 table with departures of many star names such as Mbappe, Fabinho, Lemar, Benjamin Mendy appearing to be the major reason. Theirry Henry is in the task to reconstruct the club and perhaps is looking to snatch some of the immense talents around.
Should Batshuayi go to AS Monaco he would reunite with Thierry Henry with whom he has worked in Belgian National Team and also with his former Chelsea teammate Cesc Fabregas.
When Thierry Henry was asked about Michy Batshuayi, he insisted,
"I know him well, we were close with Belgium," Henry said of the forward. "We'll see what happens. He's an interesting player."
