Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is looking to bring Zidane back to the Bernabeu.

What's the rumor?

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has contacted former manager and legend Zinedine Zidane to re-appoint him as Los Blancos coach.

In case you didn't know...

A string of poor performances saw Madrid crashing out of the Copa del Rey and Champions League in the span of a week. Two consecutive La Liga home defeats against Girona and Barcelona almost put an end to their title hopes as they currently sit 3rd in the La Liga, 12 points behind leaders Barcelona.

After their two consecutive losses against Barcelona, Los Blancos' 4-1 humiliation against Ajax was the tipping point for the Bernabeu faithful. Madrid fans has been vocal about their discontent towards club president Perez and coach Santiago Solari after last night's defeat.

Madrid has lost four consecutive home games for the first time in the 21st century and considering their sky-high standards, their poor performances won't sit well with the board and the fans alike.

Meanwhile, Zidane is taking a sabbatical from football after his departure from Real Madrid despite winning three consecutive Champions League in a row.

The heart of the matter

Madrid hired Santiago Solari before mid-season when Lopetegui was sacked but evidently, the Argentine coach failed to turn Los Blancos' season around.

According to the report, Solari won't continue as Madrid coach in the following season. Zidane is the name which attracts Perez the most as he is considering a sensational coup to bring the French legend back at the club.

Perez's other notable options remain another former coach, Jose Mourinho, who was sacked from Manchester United after enduring an abysmal start to their 2018/19 campaign.

Rumor rating: 5/10

It is crystal clear that there will notable changes at the Spanish capital after their humiliating season. Florentino Perez is desperate to get his man and Zidane has not finalized his next destination, which could benefit Los Blancos.

What's next?

Real Madrid will face Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga next.
