Reports: Spurs drop interest in 17-year-old playmaker

AVB – Looking to the future

According to Sky Sports News Tottenham are no longer interested in Alen Halilovi? who has been dubbed the ‘next Luka Modric.’

The Daily Express earlier suggested that Andre Villas-Boas were working on a fresh offer for the 17-year old Croatian, rumoured to be in the region of £13m. The deal would see another one of Europe’s brightest prospects head to White Hart Lane and follow in the footsteps of fellow Dinamo Zagreb graduate, Luka Modric, who signed for Spurs in 2008 for a similar fee.

The Express report that the players father blocked Tottenham’s advances, Halilovi? senior, a coach at his son’s current club, wants his son to play regular first-team football.

Halilovic has already played in the Champions League, Europa League and has been capped at senior international level by Croatia. In this season’s Europa League, the youngster has a pass accuracy of 86%.

Halilovi?’s contract runs out in the summer and so expect more clubs to show interest in him in the future, as he is one of Europe’s most coveted gems.
