Reports: Zlatan Ibrahimovic to have Manchester United medical
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to have his medical at Manchester United this Friday according to BBC. He will sign a one-year contract at United following the completion of his medical.
Manchester United were on the lookout to sign a striker this summer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s decision to leave Parin Saint-German couldn’t have come at a better time for them. Adding to that, the Red Devils managed to get Jose Mourinho as their new manager and his relationship with the Sweidsh international helped a lot.
Pep Guardiola’s move to Manchester City is also said to be a factor in Zlatan choosing Manchester United as he seeks revenge over the Spanish manager for the treatment he got while at Barcelona. Speaking to Marca earlier this month, Raiola had said “I think he wants revenge on Guardiola, although he does not live for it because you shouldn't have two graves - one for him and one for the enemy. It seems destiny wants to see that meeting take place. One option is to go to the Premier League but for as long as Sweden continue in the Euros there will be no solution.”
Sweden are now out of the EURO’s and the striker has revealed that he is retiring from International Football. This has made the striker available way before any time and Manchester United are now moving swiftly to complete all details. Personal terms were reportedly agreed before the EURO’s but the rumours of Bayern Munich wanting to sign Zlatan has forced Manchester United to speed things up.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now expected to be in England to complete his medical. He’s also expected to sign his one-year contract at Manchester United before going on a short vacation. He’ll later join the Premier League side towards the end of July for their pre-season matches.
This will be the 2nd time Zlatan will be working with Jose Mourinho. The duo worked together at Inter Milan and had a very healthy relation there. Ibrahimovic has also praised Mourinho is his interviews and claimed that he’s the best manager under whom he’s worked along with Carlo Ancelotti.
Manchester united were also trying to sign FC Basel striker, Breel Embolo but the Swiss International has opted to join FC Schalke 04. Manchester United are now closing in on a deal for Henrik Mkhitaryan while rumours of Julian Draxler have also begun.
