Roberto Carlos believes his Delhi Dynamos side played better than their opponents
Zico’s boys kick started their ISL season two with an impressive 2-0 win over Delhi Dynamos here on Sunday. Two first half Goals from Mandar and Reinaldo were enough to gain full points for The Goans. Highly rated Brazilian left back Carlos came off the bench in the second half to make his Indian Super League debut. But strong defense from Lucio and Gregory, and some impressive saves from Elinton ensured that the former Real Madrid man’s entry made no difference to the scoresheet.
At post match press conference, a resentful Roberto Carlos said “We played better than the opponents. The problem is that you lose by individual mistakes. I’m very happy with my team. In my opinion, my team played better in the first and the second half. All the time the players of Goa, they were roaming on the ground and wasting time. That’s a good thing for the ISL to pay attention on it,”
“Players that made waste time especially two players who were on the substitution got into a feud without the referee raising the sign. The same way that ISL give us the rules to read, I think we also have to be paying attention to this kind of thing,” he said.
He further added: “This is the first time in my life that I see two players go into the feud without the referee raising the sign. We are going to write to the Federation so that they can double check this. My club will send the letter for the ISL and they have to take it from there. My president will write the letter. I didn’t like the attitude of the referees. I hope they see it.”
Zico will work on his team’s mistakes
While Zico was calm at press conference, when asked whether he is happy with his team performance or his team need to improve, he said “It is important that we created so many chances and opportunities. And I think always we have to think to improve”
He further added “In this victory sometimes it can cover some of our mistake. We have some mistake in our marking and all. And as it is usual for our work, we sit down and analyze what happened in the game and try to improve.”
When asked about injuries and national duty, 62 year Brazilan said, “We have these problems with injuries. With Pronoy [Halder] and Narayan [Das] who has gone to the national team. We have so many changes and you could see that we have a strong team and the time that we need to use them, we are going to use them. Now it’s time to recover the players. We have game after game.”
