Roberto Martinez admits John Heitinga may move to Galatasaray

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that defender John Heitinga is in talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray over a possible winter move.

The Dutch international has been searching for a new club for quite some time and it seems that his agents have been in contact with the famous Turkish side.

Martinez has hinted at a possible communication between the defender and Galatasaray, but has also stated that the deal is not finalised yet. The Spaniard is ready to let the defender leave Goodison Park in an attempt to play first team football ahead of the Brazil World Cup 2014.

Heitinga has turned down a potential move to EPL club West Ham at the start of the January window and it seems Turkey is all set to be his next destination.

When asked about the Turkish club on Thursday, Martinez said: “He had talks. He was given permission to speak to a couple of clubs. That has been the case in the last two days.

“But at the moment, there’s been no agreement reached. We’ll find out more over the next 48 hours.

“It’s very important that, in this window, Johnny finds the right solution from now until till the end of the season.

“If that solution is for him to stay at Everton, then he’s someone that we never wanted to lose in the first place.”
