Roma show interest in Manchester United target Kevin Strootman
PSV Eindhoven have been approached by Serie A club Roma for midfielder Kevin Strootman. The Eredivisie club confirmed the interest shown by Roma but stated that Strootman was not for sale.
Strootman was speculated by many to be a target for Manchester United, but there has been no news lately in that regard. The player too expressed a desire to leave the club if a suitable offer comes up.
PSV’s technical director Marcel Brands insisted that they do not want to sell Strootman, but will consider offers only if a good one comes.
“Roma have contacted us to tell us that they are interested in Kevin Strootman,” Brands told Fox Sports.
“We have told Roma that Strootman is not for sale, and only an important offer could convince us otherwise. In our opinion, Roma is the only club to be interested in Strootman, but they have made no offer.”
PSV have already sold Erik Pieters, Dries Mertens and Jeremain Lens this summer.
Strootman’s agent Chiel Dekker spoke on the issue and said: “We are aware of the interest and the communication between PSV and Roma, but we will only come into action when Marcel Brands gives the signal that both clubs have come to an agreement.”
