Romelu Lukaku confident of Everton defeating Chelsea
Chelsea‘s on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku is confident that his loan club Everton will defeat the London club in their upcoming clash this Saturday, according to ESPN FC.
The 20-year-old will not feature for Everton against Chelsea due to the conditions set on his loan contract, but has given the Liverpool-based club his support on social networking site Twitter when he was quizzed about the upcoming fixture.
“Do you want Everton to win on Saturday,” was a question offered up to Lukaku, who offered this reply in theĀ Daily Mirror: “Yes, I have to be honest.”
The Belgian international confessed that his loan move to the Toffees was a last minute decision, after hearing about a potential transfer in the dying hours of the transfer window.
“It was a crazy evening,” he recalled. “I was sitting in my hotel room in Brussels when the phone went to tell me I was going out on loan again. It was 7 pm, and that was the first I knew of it.
“There had not been a mention of it before then, but after speaking to my parents, I decided to take the plunge. Different clubs called me and I had to take the right decision. Roberto Martinez called me for 30 minutes and explained me what he expects from me.
“I decided that Everton was the best choice. They are a more prominent club than West Brom where I had a good time. The important thing, at 20, is to be playing, and while West Brom was an option, Everton was a better one.”
Lukaku enjoyed a successful loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last season, scoring 17 goals for The Baggies.
