Romelu Lukaku looking to leave Chelsea, Tottenham front runners to sign him

Romelu Lukaku

The representative of Chelsea’s Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku has admitted that he is in talks with the club’s London rivals Tottenham over a move to White Hart Lane, but played down suggestions that a deal is all but agreed.

Lukaku appears to be out of favour at Stamford Bridge, having been farmed out on a season long loan deal to Everton in spite of his parent club’s lack of strikers. With new attacking arrivals urgently needed at Chelsea, Lukaku is reportedly likely to be moved on in order to raise funds for new arrivals, rather than handed a run in the side himself.

His form at Everton, where he has plundered 12 goals this season, means that he is likely to have no shortage of potential suitors. Chelsea are believed to have placed a £20 million price tag on the striker, helping them to fund their mooted move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Christophe Henrotay, Lukaku’s representative, admitted to Belgian media that he has met Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy over a summer move to a side who are also in need of attacking reinforcements.

“Yes, I am looking for a club for Romelu and yes, I had a conversation with Daniel Levy,” Henrotay admitted, before denying that a deal had been reached.

“But that doesn’t necessarily mean Romelu will go to Tottenham.

“I am talking to different clubs but it’s true that there aren’t exactly 20 clubs who can afford Romelu.”

Lukaku has scored as many goals this season as Eto’o and Torres combined.
