Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Everton one day for a top club 'like Chelsea'
Romelu Lukaku has said that he wants to join a ‘top club’, barely a year after his move to Everton. Lukaku completed a permanent move to the Merseyside club at the beginning of this season.
The 21-year-old Belgian is Everton’s record signing after making his loan move from Chelsea permanent for £28 million. The striker was a hit at Goodison Park during his loan spell at the club in 2013-2014. He is yet to recreate his form for the Toffees after completing the transfer, scoring just 10 goals in 36 appearances.
The striker returned to Stamford Bridge in Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night, where he was given a huge reception by the home fans.
Lukaku said, “It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception. They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.”
“I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”
