Ronaldinho gets a chance to continue career if he impresses Wollongong Wolves

Ronaldinho last played at the inaugural Premier Futsal event in India

Former Brazilian star Ronaldinho apparently wishes to continue his career and not give up playing football yet. Ronaldinho’s agent seems to have discussed a possible deal with Wollongong Wolves, a second-tier team in Australia, but the deal appears to be complex. Director Dean Merola confirmed they have submitted an offer for the playmaker to play in their FFA Cup match against Sydney on August 10.

It is reported that the Wollongong Wolves who play in the second-tier National Premier League of Australia might not be able to offer him a permanent deal at the moment. If Ronaldinho accepts their offer in the form of a one-match guest deal, assessing his performance and impact during the match, the club could hand him a lifesaver deal. The club themselves are in an expansion phase, and Ronaldinho’s signing could prove to be a major coup in to achieve promotion to the top-tier of the Hyundai A-League.

Wollongong Wolves director, Dean Merola, confirmed that an offer was made and had this to say, “We can confirm we’ve put in an offer,” he said. “We know he is interested in coming to the A-League as a marquee. We are willing to put him on a platform to show his wares and deadline for a response is tomorrow.”

The A-League’s season begins in the month of October and Ronaldinho has until tomorrow to decide his future. Hopeful of a positive response, Merola continued, "Fingers crossed, it would be a big coup for Wollongong!"

Ronaldinho’s last professional football club was Brazilian club Fluminense in 2015. Ronaldinho appears to have failed at attracting offers since his one-year contract terminated at Fluminense, where he could neither score a single goal nor make any assist.

However, Ronaldinho seems to have no doubt over his career as he bids to stay in shape for competitive football circuit. Ronaldinho, two-time World Player of the Year, has formerly played for Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan, and has won 97 caps for his country Brazil.

He appeared in three games in the recently concluded Premier Futsal in India alongside Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Hernan Crespo and other stars. He scored a hat-trick in his second game and hit five in his final match for Goa 5s. He then flew to Brazil since he was appointed as an ambassador for the Olympics.
