Ronaldinho gives autograph to referee on a 'yellow card'
Last weekend, the 35-year-old former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho was seen taking part in a one-off game for Ecuadorian side Barcelona de Ecuador against San Martin in Guayaquil. Currently a free-agent and looking for a club, Ronaldinho had chosen to appear in this friendly match where he stole the show.
The Brazilian superstar and former Ballon d’Or winner had a very intriguing encounter when he was asked by the referee to sign his yellow card. The referee who simply couldn’t let such a chance slip through his fingers chose not to wait till the end of the match and asked for the legendary footballer’s autograph as soon as he found a break in the game.
Since he couldn’t find a piece of paper, he decided to go with the most suitable thing available to him. The referee simply took his yellow card out of his pocket and asked the legend to sign it.
Ronaldinho and his teammates were visibly amused by the incident and fans in the stands were lucky enough to see something which we don’t get to see every day. At 35 years of age, Ronaldinho may have lost his footballing prowess and his seemingly endless sets of trickery, but incidents like this show that the presence of this master is still strong in the hearts of his fans.
Recently Ronaldinho had visited India to inaugurate the Nagjee International Club Tournament. This was his first visit ever to India for football related reasons. During the tour, he had a close shave with an accident as a traffic light fell in front of his car.
The former superstar has also announced that he would not be retiring from football and he has even been linked with a few MLS clubs. Throughout his long career, he has appeared for some great clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan. Although some critics claim that his genius was ruined by his own actions, his achievements in his prime were nothing short of brilliant.
