Ronaldinho: "Manchester United should have signed me"
Two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho recently spoke about the time when he was linked with Manchester United.
Ronaldinho claimed that Manchester United had the opportunity to sign him back when he played for PSG. He said that he could have helped United claim more European glory.
He was heavily linked with the Red Devils in 2003, but instead got transferred to Barcelona for £21 million and helped Barca win two successive league titles and a 2006 Champions League trophy with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
“If Manchester United had signed me they would have won more European Cups,” he said. “I have played for some of the biggest teams in the world and won everything.
Ronaldinho went on to play for five years for Barcelona and then moved to AC Milan. He was linked with Manchester City too, before his move to the Italian club.
Playing in the Premier League is one of the few things that Ronaldinho has not achieved, but he doesn’t have any regrets about it. His only regret was not playing alongside Messi for a longer time.
“The only regret is not playing more seasons with Lionel Messi,” he said.
