Rooney agrees to team up with Austin for Wrestlemania tag-team matchup

Twitter war unites Rooney and Austin to take on Barrett and Davies

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney’s blatant dive to win a penalty against Preston in the FA Cup fifth round tie did not win him any friends. Least of all WWE’s British wrestler Wade Barrett, a dedicated Preston NE fan.

Barrett, who goes by the screen name of Bad News Barrett expressed his displeasure at the England captain’s action on the field on the social media and tweeted.

Rooney, as we know it, is not one to back down from any challenge. He would rather take in head on or dive over it (as demonstrated in the Preston match). An unfazed Rooney decided to respond to Bad News but rightfully enlisted the help of retired Wrestling great Stone Cold Steve Austin considering pro wrestling would be a somewhat unfamiliar territory for him.

Barrett, maybe, taken back by the footballer’s prompt response, decided to even out the odds by teaming up with Preston footballer Kevin Davies for a proposed match at the Wrestlemania 31. He even urged WWE owner Vince McMahon to book the match.

Kevin Davies, probably unimpressed by Rooney’s dive on Monday night, decided to join Barrett in his quest for justice.

The Texas Rattlesnake was not going to leave Rooney hanging. After all the two are connected to their hair or in this case the lack of it.

Rooney too, decided to acknowledge his new-found partner’s response.

We wonder and wish for a tweet from Louis van Gaal on the matter. We will love to know what the great Dutchman’s philosophy says when it comes to his captain’s involvement in a wrestling match, especially after Manchester United’s injury record this season.

Till then, fans have expressed their support to the proposed faceoff in six weeks.
