Rooney describes stunning strike from inside his own half for DC United against Orlando City
Wayne Rooney said he 'knew immediately he was going to shoot' on Wednesday as he spoke about scoring from the halfway line against Orlando City.
Wayne Rooney sent a 70-yard shot over the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Brian Rowe in the 10th minute and D.C. United held on for a 1-0 victory.
The English striker said 'I spotted the keeper maybe a couple of minutes before I actually scored and I saw he was quite high.'
This is the third time Rooney has shown his superb talent against Orlando, scoring a free kick from an almost impossible angle, and assisting a last minute, match winning goal the last two times the teams have met.
Rooney is not content with that however and said he is looking to produce another game changing performance the next time the teams meet.
