Roy Hodgson discusses how England will stop Uruguay’s Luis Suarez
Roy Hodgson insists his side have made no special reservations for Luis Suarez this Thursday and believes his side must do what they always do and defend well.
Suarez is preparing to return to the Uruguay side after missing his sides opening World Cup loss to Costa Rica. The Liverpool striker has been suffering with an injury which he had surgery on in May and despite not being 100%, he is set to start in the game against England.
England are also looking to come back from an opening day defeat after losing to Italy in their opening game. However, they will have taken more plaudits for their performance than the South American side.
With the return of Luis Suarez, Hodgson, who does not believe Suarez can be classified as world class yet, insists his side will look to nullify the attacking threat and Suarez along with it.
Hodgson told reporters: “He does all the things you want a top player to do. So all we can do is make certain our defence is compact and we make it difficult for him in terms of not giving him space and the chance to do the things he wants to do. “His return will be a big boost for them.”
