Royal Wahingdoh goes to top after 2-0 win over Sporting Goa
Royal Wahingdoh FC overcame Sporting Clube de Goa 2-0 in a Round 6 tie of the I-League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Sunday afternoon. Royal Wahingdoh was leading 1-0 at the interval. Royal Wahingdoh coach Santosh Kashyap had said last week that the RWFC players start matches a little too casually, but this time they were the livelier team in the first half.
They took the lead five minutes before the breather when an in-form Seityasen Singh shot in after getting on the end of a cross from Lallawanzuala. After resumption, Kim Yong Song headed in from close range to double the lead for Royal Wahingdoh with the guests from Sporting Goa beaten.
Royal Wahingdoh have now gone to the top of the I-League table with 13 points from six games, while Sporting Goa stays on two points from five matches and is now bottom of the I-League due to a worse goal difference than new entrants Bharat FC. Royal Wahingdoh's Seityasen Singh was adjudged the Hero of the Match.
