The rules are used against me: Neymar

Neymar could suffer a two-match suspension

In the events that occurred after the full-time whistle in the encounter between Brazil and Colombia, Neymar and Carlos Bacca were both issued straight red cards. Neymar was punished for attempting to headbutt Colombian goalscorer on the night Jeison Murillo.

Carlos Bacca was sent off for his push on Neymar immediately after the altercation.

Neymar has since come out to defend his actions. He criticised the refereeing at the game referring to two incidents, one in the previous game when he was cautioned for wiping off the disappearing foam sprayed by the referee and the other in the same game where he was issued the yellow card for handling the ball at the end of the first half.

He said: “The rules are always used against me.

“They clean the disappearing foam and do not receive yellow but I do. The ball was in my hand but it was not intentional, I was falling, and received yellow.”

“Things happen. Put a weak referee to referee and this happens. Nothing made me crazy. I just get p***** with the referees who don't whistle right.”

His teammate Dani Alves also came out earlier in Neymar’s defence speaking about referees making decisions without taking the personality of the player into consideration.
