Rummenigge reveals parting words with Ancelotti after Bayern sacking

Carlo Ancelotti with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Bayern Munich executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists he maintains a friendly relationship with Carlo Ancelotti despite the Italian's sacking.

Ancelotti led Die Roten to the Bundesliga title last season, but was dismissed following a poor 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in September that followed a shaky start to their title defence.

Bayern turned to the familiar face of Jupp Heynckes, who was tempted out of retirement to replace Ancelotti and has seen the club regain top spot in Germany.

However, Rummenigge says Ancelotti took his sacking with good grace and there are no hard feelings with the former Real Madrid boss.

"When I had the conversation on Thursday after the Paris match that was of course not pleasant," he told Sky Bundesliga.

"At the end he got up then said 'okay, you're not my boss anymore, but you stay my friend'.

"I also have contact with him from time to time."
