Arda Guler makes decision on Real Madrid future after starring role for Turkiye at Euro 2024: Reports
According to a report by Cadena SER, Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler would prefer to stay at the club after his impressive performances for Turkey at Euro 2024. The talented midfielder joined Los Blancos last summer from Fenerbahce and despite finding game time hard to come by, he remains willing to stay and fight for his place.
The Turkish international was impressive when he took the pitch for the Spanish outfit last season, scoring six goals in his 12 appearances across competitions.
The 19-year-old has shown his quality at the ongoing European Championships, bagging a goal and an assist in the tournament. Guler is only the third teenager to accomplish that feat, following in the footsteps of footballing Luminaries like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
As per the aforementioned report, Arda Guler hopes he can feature for Real Madrid more next season following his performances for his nation at Euro 2024. The youngster has shown incredible versatility at the tournament, being deployed on either flank, through the spine of the team, or as a false nine.
Los Blancos are likely to see another change of the guard following the retirement of Toni Kroos and the advanced age of Luka Modric. The impressive midfielder will be keen to take advantage of any vacancies in the team.
Real Madrid star believes overhead kick against Slovakia is one of the most important strikes of his career
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham believes his overhead kick in the dying minutes of England's clash against Slovakia at Euro 2024 was one of the most important goals of his career.
The goal salvaged the Three Lions' hopes in the game and saw the nation drag their Eastern European opponents to extra time where they fell to a Harry Kane winner.
Talking about the goal with England's Euro 2024 Diary Room, Bellingham said:
"It was really instinct more than anything. It kind of fell in the perfect spot and it was a little bit behind me. When I was in the air I thought, 'I'm six feet off the ground and it's like Ronaldo!' But I've watched it back and I still had one hand on the ground, so it wasn't the most acrobatic."
The Real Madrid star concluded by saying the goal was one of the most important he had scored in his career. He added:
"But it was a nice contact. Definitely one of the most important and memorable moments of my career so far."
The Three Lions are keen to lift the European Championships for the first time in their history and have three games between them and glory. They will hope that Bellingham can continue coming up with magical moments in Euro 2024 as they look to end their 58-year wait for a trophy.
