Argentina’s third goal by Messi during FIFA World Cup final against France should have been disallowed: Reports

Argentina's 3rd goal, Lionel Messi's second, against France in the FIFA World Cup final should not have counted, per a French media report. The publication claims two substitutes were on the pitch before the PSG star had the ball in the back of the net.

According to a report published today by Le10Sport, referee Marciniak should have disallowed Messi's goal in extra time as Argentina had more players on the field. They believe that the officials made a mistake by not checking the footage on the grand stage.

The report does not indicate if the players on the pitch were near the corner flag or if substitutes on the bench made their way onto the pitch. However, none of the reported players interfered with the play, and the Polish official did not stop the game.
