Arsenal begin talks to sign 28-year-old PSG star: Reports

Arsenal have allegedly initiated talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to sign Spain international Fabian Ruiz in the summer transfer window.

Ruiz, 28, has popped up as a hot topic of speculation after playing a crucial role in his national team's UEFA Euro 2024 triumph earlier in July. He started all six of his Euro 2024 appearances and recorded two goals and as many assists, operating in a number eight role.

A left-footed technical operator blessed with passing, vision, and flair, Ruiz started 26 of his 35 appearances across all competitions for PSG last campaign. He found the back of the opposition net three times and provided seven assists in just 2,240 minutes of action.

Now, transfer expert Duncan Castles has claimed that Arsenal have begun talks to lure Ruiz away from PSG this summer. He recently told The Transfers Podcast (h/t TEAMtalk):

"Arsenal have initiated discussions with Paris Saint-Germain for Spain international midfielder Fabian Ruiz. The discussions are dependent, I'm told, on [the Gunners] moving a player out from midfield."

Shedding light on the Gunners' plan of signing Ruiz, Castles added:

"It's likely that if they are to come to a agreement on a transfer fee that it will be structured in the same way as the deal they used to bring David Raya from Brentford last summer, in the sense of it being a loan with an obligation to buy a year later."

The Gunners, who finished second in the Premier League for the second time in a row past term, could make room for Ruiz's potential arrival in their squad. They are reportedly interested in offloading the likes of Thomas Partey and Jorginho prior to the end of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano provides insight into PSG and Napoli's stances on Arsenal-linked star

Speaking to Football Transfers, journalist Fabrizio Romano asserted that PSG are in pole position to rope in Arsenal target Victor Osimhen. Asked about the Ligue 1 giants' pursuit, he replied:

"At the moment, they have no intention to accept the first two conditions that Napoli discussed. Napoli asked for Lee Kang-in to be part of the deal, they said no, then Napoli asked for the possibility for the release clause to be paid and they again said no. But if the price drops, we can still consider PSG as an option because the player would love to go there and has given his green light."

Osimhen, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal for over a year, is believed to be keen to secure a move away from Napoli this summer.

In the past two seasons, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker contributed 48 goals and nine assists in 71 games across all competitions for Napoli.
