Arsenal consider launching January move to sign 24-year-old Serie A forward: Reports
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The could look to make a move for him in the January transfer window.
Pundits and fans alike have urged the Gunners to sign a striker in recent seasons but they have yet to do it. They even sold Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace in the summer but failed to sign a replacement. Kai Havertz is now their primary striker with Gabriel Jesus as a backup. While Havertz has scored four league goals this season, Jesus has scored none.
Hence, Arsenal have again been linked with a number of strikers like Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak. However, as per Daily Briefing (via Football.London), the Gunners are monitoring Vlahovic for a potential January move. The Serbian striker's contract with Juventus expires in 2026 the two parties haven't made any progress on a new contract.
If he doesn't sign a new contract, the Bianconeri will look to sell him to get a transfer fee rather than letting him leave for free in 2026. Arsenal, who were also linked with Vlahovic when he joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022, are interested in signing him. As per Transfermarkt, his market value is €65 million.
Vlahovic, 24, has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 16 games across competitions for the Italian giants this season.
Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic opened up about his future earlier this year
In April this year, Dusan Vlahovic was asked about his contract situation with Juventus and his future at the club. He answered (via Football.London):
"I heard, I saw the newspapers, but I didn’t know anything. I was thinking mainly about myself and preparing for a good season. Future? Two years have passed and I’m very happy here. This is my answer, I want to win something important with Juve. Then we’ll see, we’ll talk about it later."
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were also linked with the striker back then. The two sides didn't sign a striker in the summer and could potentially reignite their interest in Vlahovic, along with Arsenal.
Juventus, meanwhile, are monitoring Joshua Zirkzee's situation at Manchester United as a potential replacement for Vlahovic. Zirkzee joined the Red Devils from Bologna in the summer and scored on his debut. However, he hasn't scored in 16 games since then and has faced a lot of criticism.
