Arsenal enter race to sign Serie A forward linked with Liverpool - Reports

Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, a player who has been linked with their English rivals Liverpool. The report comes from Soccernet.ng., who say that the attacker is expected to leave his Italian side at the end of the campaign (via Football Transfers).

The Nigeria international was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer, a transfer that did not go through eventually. However, with just two years left on his current deal, Atalanta will be looking to cash in on the forward next summer.

It is also said that the Gunners' interest in Lookman comes from the fact that they need a reliable left-sided wide option. Gabriel Martinelli has failed to remain consistent through the current season, while Leandro Trossard hasn't established his place as a sure-shot starter.

Moreover, Lookman will also provide Arsenal versatility, in that he can also operate on the right flank or down the middle if needed. The Gunners have had to deal with injuries to Bukayo Saka, and had to turn to Raheem Sterling, who proved to be rather underwhelming while on the pitch.

Additionally, the aforementioned report states that Trossard could be on his way out of the Emirates in January, leaving the team short of options on the left side. Therefore, Lookman will have relatively less competition if he chooses to move to north London in the summer of 2025.

To date, the 27-year-old has made 91 appearances across competitions for his Serie A side, bagging 40 goals and 23 assists.

In an interesting report, journalist Miguel Delaney notes that Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring Lamine Yamal's situation at Barcelona (via TeamTalk). Of course, the attraction towards the player is not surprising, given how he's established himself at the top level, aged just 17.

In 67 appearances for the club, he has 13 goals and 17 assists. The teenager also has three goals for Spain in 17 appearances.

However, it is highly unlikely that the Blaugrana would let go of Yamal, who is considered one of their most prized assets. But, this report claims that the financial situation at Camp Nou could force their hand in letting go of the winger.

If these rumors are true, Liverpool may seem a more suitable destination for the Spain international, with Mohamed Salah in the final year of his contract. Meanwhile, he'll have to contend with Arsenal sensation Bukayo Saka for a spot on the right wing at the Emirates.
