Arsenal eye surprise move for Ligue 1 star to bolster attack - Reports
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Lille winger Edon Zhegrova in the summer transfer window. According to Football Transfers, this move is to improve the Gunners' squad depth for the upcoming season.
The Kosovo international plays predominantly on the right-hand side and would serve as second choice to Bukayo Saka. This season, the England international had slight issues with fitness, and the Gunners were left without a left-footed option on that flank.
The aforementioned outlet values Zhegrova at €19.9 million, with two years left on his current deal with the French outfit. This would, of course, be a huge step in the 25-year-old's career, who will have to be content with limited minutes.
A move to the Emirates will give him the opportunity to compete for top honors. Last season, Arsenal finished only two points behind league champions Manchester City and have secured themselves Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.
With the amount of football that the Gunners will have to play next season, it is likely that Zhegrova will have to play his part in certain games. Last season, he made 47 appearances across competitions for Lille, bagging 12 goals and 10 assists in the process. However, he started 25 of 34 games in the French top-flight.
Last season, the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Leandro Trossard were all used on the right side in Saka's absence.
Fabrizio Romano provides update on Arsenal target Johan Bakayoko
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal's pursuit of PSV Eindhoven's right winger Johan Bakayoko. The Belgium international is one of the most talented young wide players going around Europe.
Romano, however, believes that nothing concrete has developed between the Gunners and the 21-year-old. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said (via Now Arsenal):
"I saw these links, but at the moment I have no confirmation anything is advanced or concrete at this stage between them and Bakayoko. He's been scouted by several clubs. He is, for sure, one of the most talented wingers available on the market.
"But at the moment, they have not started a concrete negotiation with the player or with the club for Bakayoko, so it's till early."
Last season, Bakayoko came up against Mikel Arteta's side in the Champions League but failed to record a goal contribution. Overall, he made 48 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, bagging 14 goals and assists each.
