Arsenal and Manchester United hold talks with Ligue 1 ace wanted by Barcelona: Reports
Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly initiated talks with LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David, who has also been linked with Barcelona.
David, 24, has cemented himself as one of the most clinical number nines in the Ligue 1 since arriving from KAA Gent for an initial £22 million in 2020. He has helped his current club lift two trophies, including a Ligue 1 title, so far.
Now, according to Caught Offside, David is interested in ending his stay at Lille and secure a transfer elsewhere to seek a new challenge. As a result, both Arsenal and Manchester United have held talks with the star's entourage.
However, the aforementioned Premier League clubs are expected to face tough competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan. Nerazzurri CEO Giuseppe Marotta is keen to sign the Barcelona target on a Bosman move next summer.
David, who is in the last year of his deal, has made 206 appearances across all competitions for Lille so far. The 59-cap Canada international has scored 101 goals and provided 21 assists for the Bruno Genesio-coached team.
The Barcelona-linked player could emerge as a starter ahead of Kai Havertz should he move to Arsenal in the near future. On the other hand, he could also start ahead of Rasmus Hojlund should he join Manchester United in 2025.
On the other hand, David could prove to be an stellar signing for Barcelona next summer. The Canadian could gradually emerge as Barcelona's starting striker with Robert Lewandowski in the twilight of his trophy-laden career.
Arsenal, Manchester United eyeing teenager
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in roping in Juventus star Kenan Yildiz. Both teams' scouts watched the attacker in action in Juventus' 0-0 and 1-1 draws against AC Milan and Lecce.
Meanwhile, Yildiz has attracted interest from Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Borussia Dortmund as well. Although the right-footed versatile operator is happy at Juventus, he is currently valued at a transfer fee in the region of £66 million.
Yildiz, who is a former Bayern Munich youth star, has started 26 of his 52 appearances across competitions for Juventus so far. The 19-year-old has scored eight goals and registered four assists in 2,498 minutes of action for his club.
Should the Turkey international join Arsenal in the future, he would offer good competition to Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank. On the other hand, he would emerge as a squad option for Manchester United should he move to them.
